We love our new dry erase pouches! We can put any worksheet or template inside them and write on top with a marker! They are fun and brightly coloured so we love using them! We also like that using them saves paper and a Green School we know how important it is to reduce the waste we create.

We are already improving in our independent work in our morning literacy activities and having lots of fun while we learn! This morning we played a memory match phonics game; sequenced a story in pictures; completed some phonics worksheets; played a listening bingo vocab game; spun the wheels to read /th/ words (practising the long and short /th/ sounds); read our readers with teacher; played reading and spelling games on the ipad; and played a rhyming words jigsaw game! Needless to say we were starving by lunchtime! In preparation for our swimming lessons we have been learning about water safety! Why not run through the lesson attached again at home to reinforce the important message around water safety. Birch Class Swimming Reminder
Swimming List: You will need: Swimming suit Swimming hat Towel Optional: Goggles Armbands Not necessary: Shampoo/Conditioner Hair brush Shower Gel *Note: Children will be un/dressing themselves independently so this may need to be practised at home beforehand. Swimming Dates: We will go swimming on the following Wednesdays: 27th February 6th March 13th March 20th March 3rd April 10th April *Note: Please bring in swimming gear every Tuesday so we are organised for swimming on Wednesdays and don't forget anything! We are loving our different literacy activities at the minute! A few mornings a week we each work independently on different tasks to help us get even better with our reading - from reading games on the ipad; levelled readers; sound matching; cvc spelling; memory skills; handwriting; leapfrog high frequency words; word snap; worksheets; sentence builders and lots more!! Working by ourselves and taking turn working with Aoife/Pamela is also good for building independence, concentration, patience and persistence. Keep up the good work lads. We made a clock from a hula hoop, rulers and number cards! Our Friendship board is all ready for the month ahead!
In February we celebrate friendship through a range of lessons and activities - student council sell friendship bracelets (Amnesty); Anti-bullying lessons; Random Acts of Kindness; Getting Along lesson in the You Can Do It programme with Gabby & Gary Get Along; Assemblies and lots more. On the board you will see a kindness wreath on which we invite children and adults to add a ribbon every thing they do something kind for another person. By the end of February we hope to have a lovely bright colourful wreath on show! 😃 The Birch Class were very busy this week preparing and organising a fashion show as part of our Drama lessons. They have been learning all about clothes this month so had all the vocabulary and adjectives ready to describe each models outfit as they walked the catwalk! Well done lads - it was a really fun way to end our topic! Check out the photos in this montage: We are working together on some collaborative art pieces using fabric and fibre! They look great! |
