Suggested activity for 18th - 20th March: Complete a project on Egypt.
Our SESE topic for the coming three weeks was Egypt; please see the Topic Web Plan attached: birch_planning_web_march_2020-_egypt.docx You can pick from any aspect that interests you; for example: Clothes Pyramids Mummies Tutankhamen The River Nile Animals in Egypt Art/ Hieroglyphics Twinkl website has lots of amazing resources on the topic of Egypt and is free for this month. Please see the school facebook page for details on how to sign up. Birch class are welcome to email me pictures of how they are getting on with their projects or any interesting facts they have found out. They are also welcome to complete it in their home language. It's been a very busy day celebrating World Book Day. We had a trip to the mobile library and got to listen to some stories in English, Romanian and Russian. We then shared our fantastic stories with Senior Infants, Holly & Hawthorn classes! We felt really proud of our hard work!
After learning about Neil Armstrong and his trip to the moon, we felt inspired to build our own rockets. We built them and them carried out an experiment to see how the angle of the launch affected the distance traveled...it was a lot of fun! It's been a busy few weeks learning all about how story writing. We have studied other stories, learnt about the structure of a narrative, planned, drafted and edited our own stories! We look forward to sharing them soon.. I am incredibly proud of the Birch class today because they presented their projects to the ENTIRE school at Assembly! Everyone in the school was impressed with how well the BIrch class used excellent clear voices to confidently explain what their projects were about....well done everyone!
Birch Class have worked very hard to prepare projects based on Tom Crean's three expeditions to Antarctica. Everyone presented their projects to the class, focusing on using excellent speaking and presentation skills. Well done everyone!
