The Birch Class have worked tremendously hard over the past few weeks on Recount Writing. We studied some examples to understand the structure and Elaine modelled some recount writing. Elaine and the Birch class worked together to write their own recount. The final step was independent writing ; everyone wrote an amazing recount of our trip to the Garda station. The effort and focus from everybody was absolutely amazing! Well done! What: Penguins of Madagascar (PG rating)

Thank you so much to Garda Daire for organising our trip to Blanchardstown Station. We got to see the offices, the cells, the interview rooms, patrol vehicles and even got our fingerprints taken! Everyone in the whole school is incredibly impressed with the Birch class today! To celebrate Raising Awareness to Developmental Language Disorder Day, Birch Class spent some time preparing advice on how to be a good communicator. We shared these top tips with everyone in Assembly today. Everyone thought these tips were really helpful and the boys said they felt very happy and proud of themselves. What a great achievement! Birch Class have really enjoyed all the Maths week activities- we have done tessellation Maths Art, Maths trails, puzzles and the very popular estimation station. Pumpkins were provided from the school garden and the pupils estimated how heavy it was. We also had a guest speaker talk to us all about how Maths is important in computer programming. We are all feeling very inspired about how important Maths is in all our lives! We prepared questions and interviewed Garda Daire about his job today. He was so impressed with all the boys that he has invited us to the Garda station- we can't wait to go!
We were learning about what happens to animals such as hedgehogs, squirrels, wasps and geese in the Autumn..........when this little guy paid a visit to school for the day!
