We are starting specific morning exercises to improve our concentration. We know that a calm body is the best one for learning so it's important to get all our jiggles out and ensure we have good energy ready for learning. Yesterday we learned about a full body squeeze and today we did some wall sits - they were so tricky!!

Today we learned about the story of milk and then about how butter was made long ago. We learned about the stages - milking the cow, churning the butter, patting the butter with paddles and (best of all), tasting the butter. We decided to have a go ourselves - we poured cream into a little jar and shook it as hard as we could. Then - almost magically - the liquid cream turned into a solid(ish) butter! There was also some buttermilk in the jar which we learned, could be used to make bread. Our work was rewarded with the chance to taste the lovely butter we made! We decided it was very tasty. We were surprised to learn that this butter has no salt and most butter we buy in the shop has lots of salt! We are using our Maths knowledge on Place Value to play fun games! Why not try 'Naughty or Nice' at home with your families. Neasa was reminding us of all the strategies we can use to make sure we understand what someone is saying to us and how we seek help if we need it. We revised all our knowledge of Andy Warhol, Pop Art and printmaking from earlier this month and then we decided to try out some overprinting. We amended the original plates we created adding more detail and then we printed over our first prints. It was so much fun and we created really interesting food themed prints. Things are stating to look (and smell) a little different in the Birch Class experiment area...... Today we read Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers on the topic of loneliness. Today we were learning about rhythm using cake (crotchet beat) and cupcake (2 quaver beats) to have some fun with music literacy using our food theme! Well done boys for a great effort and determination! Parent Teacher Meetings will take place on Tuesday 27th November - they will last for just ten minutes each so I hope you can make it. Please see Aladdin App and/or your child's homework notebook for your specific time.
